While exercising today, something which i have neglected for many many months, I felt comfortably comfortable. My heart was racing, my muscles ache, but i back to a routine, event, situation where I have been many times before. My body knew. It was okay with the excess, the gruel, the sweat and pain. I hope tomorrow it will not forget its eagerness. My mind knows that if i keep too hard a pace, I’ll burn up and fall back hard. How hard is always unknown. Before, it was a day, maybe two. Recently, it would be weeks or months. The best of times, I can say were the day breaks. Because there is something about being up and active at the break of day. Seeing the morning colors, smelling the morning air, hearing the city (or small town, forest, lake, etc.) come alive. If you are trying to sleep when the birds start to sing, and you hold a resentment towards their happiness at seeing light break the dark cold, I can only wonder what nocturnal pleasure had been indulged.

I think that over the past few years, I’ve neglected those moments. Those aspects of daily life that had, to me, become boring and mundane. I was seeking for something, and there is always something right there. There. Whether it be cooking, or cleaning, or reading & writing, there is always something to do. But is there always something better to do? That was the question I always asked, and I always went searching for it. But, maybe it’s not that something else is better out there, but it’s better because you look for the better thing. You chase the dragon for the spectacle and fear and awe. Why couldn’t you look at something old, common, and simple as a spectacle and awe, and fear the basic mastery in which it survives and possibly thrives? Why?

Discussing Thoreau today was very enjoyable for me. I think i may have gone a little overboard, but i hope the enthusiasm was contagious. We can’t learn what we don’t look for. We don’t see what we’re not look at. I wanted to say that you don’t see what you’re not looking for, but I think part of it is not looking for anything and letting anything be looked at.

While on the treadmill today, i was caught between two t.v. screens. On the right, the news; on the left, sitcom. The right talked about homeless shelter capacity. The left made jokes about marriage and thanksgiving. Both were soon interrupted by commercials celebrating Black Friday (now starting at 10pm on thursday; don’t forget to support … Read more

While on the treadmill today, i was caught between two t.v. screens. On the right, the news; on the left, sitcom. The right talked about homeless shelter capacity. The left made jokes about marriage and thanksgiving. Both were soon interrupted by commercials celebrating Black Friday (now starting at 10pm on thursday; don’t forget to support your local Walmart).

Walking through the aisles at the local Econo Foods, I was aghast at the levels of sodium in what most would probably consider everyday food. A serving of one item would often have between 25-35% of the FDA recommended values. No wonder with a bloated society, we have too much salt in our diets.

Today our Government has failed to do its job. Once again. People wonder what the Occupy movement is about. I think it’s about this: our government is overpaid, pampered politicians that can’t make hard decisions because they fear losing in the next election. If a politician makes a hard decision and loses the position, at least, I hope, that something at least got accomplished. For good or bad, there needs to be movement. A stagnant government is a cesspool of waste and indifference.

Commercials commercials commercials, everything is a commercial. Buy this, buy that, click now, call in the next hour, don’t let the opportunity pass you by. This is a one time offer…and on and on and on. I feel stifled that so much has to occur in the last six weeks of the year for the economy to be healthy. I feel saddened that we need to choose a day to celebrate mothers, fathers, soldiers, icons, and ourselves instead of just celebrating them everyday. Or at least once a week. Yet, I feel compelled to feed the machine in order not to stand out in the crowd, rock the boat, ruffle feathers. And on and on and on.

I suppose; it’s time to get back to work, so i can make money for shit i don’t need. wwtdd.
